TCA and TBA cause unpleasant musty and musty flavors in wine that are recognizable at concentrations as low as 5 ng/l. Surprisingly, it can mask and negatively affect the flavor and aroma of a wine from as little as one part per billion of the amount. TCA (2,4,6-trichloranisole) and TBA (2,4,6-tribromanisole) and their precursors can come from oak barrels, storage tanks, tap water and other production equipment used in the production of wine and other beverage production processes.
LIBRASORB® TX filter plates offer a selective solution to eliminate these undesirable flavors, improving the organoleptic profile and thus adding value to the final product. Treatment with LIBRASORB® TX allows TCA and TBA levels to be reduced below the flavor threshold, while preserving the sensory profile of the treated wine.
